Students of Bosomtwe STEM Girls SHS returned to a warm and emotional reception after representing Ghana at the 2026 World Robofest Championship.

The young innovators gained international recognition after finishing fourth in the highly competitive Time Trial Bottle Sumo event, where teams were challenged to design and assemble robots under intense time pressure.

Supporters, students, parents, and school officials gathered at Prempeh I International Airport to celebrate the girls’ achievement as they arrived home from the United States.

The welcoming ceremony featured traditional performances from the school’s cultural troupe, while the cadet corps lined up in honour of the team’s outstanding performance on the global stage.

Competing against schools from across the world, the Ghanaian team impressed judges with their speed, coordination, and technical creativity. They successfully built and prepared their robot before the deadline, earning Ghana a place among the top-performing teams in the category.

One team member described the experience as unforgettable, adding that greater support and investment in STEM education could help Ghanaian students compete even more strongly at future international competitions.

The achievement has sparked conversations around the importance of empowering young girls in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, with many describing the team as an inspiration to students across the country.
