The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) says its ongoing network upgrade project across parts of Greater Kumasi is expected to be completed by June 5, 2026.

The project involves the upgrade of key sub-transmission lines between the KNUST Primary Substation, Kaase Primary Substation, and the Ridge Bulk Supply Point. According to ECG, the works include replacing existing conductors with higher-capacity cables and upgrading weak sections of the network to improve electricity transmission.

When completed, the project is expected to enhance power supply reliability, improve voltage quality, and strengthen electricity delivery to communities including Kaase, Kuntenase, Sewua, Bekwai, and surrounding areas.

ECG says the upgrade will also reinforce the connection between the Kumasi 1 (K1) and Kumasi 2 (K2) Bulk Supply Points, helping to improve the resilience and stability of the electricity network across the Ashanti Region.

The company acknowledged the temporary inconveniences experienced by residents during the construction period and assured customers that the project is aimed at delivering a more reliable and efficient power supply in the long term.
